Happy 10th Birthday Haley!

I can't believe that my little Haley is now 10 and going to be in the 5th grade this year!

This morning she woke up with the birthday quilt. I have never seen someone that thrashes so much when she sleeps. Her blankets and pillow are often thrown off the bed.

Haley's new 10 year old look!

Here are 10 things I love about Haley:

1. She is a great big sister. Ruby and Lucy totally look up to her.

2. She has a great smile (when you get to see it).

3. She LOVES to read and has literally read the majority of books in our local library's children's room.

We make trips to the library so often that Ruby and Lucy started complaining and did not want to go in. So sometimes I park outside while she runs in and picks out a stash to suffice for a few days.

4. She is a great softball player. She listens to her coaches and works really hard. She has also recently decided that she wanted to be called Lizzy (her middle name is Elizabeth). I'm totally ok with that, but I never remember to call her Lizzy.

5. She loves to be comfortable. I snapped this photo because It's so classic Haley. Hair unbrushed, wearing sweats, reading and eating ice cream, I'm not sure if life could get any better for her.

6. Haley is a fish. She is a great swimmer. She LOVES the beach and will stay in the water boogie boarding all day if we would let her.

7. I love when she gets excited over something new. When she has on her China clothes she struts all over the house.

8. She is crafty. She has learned to crochet and loves to make blankets for her stuffed animals.

9. She loves animals. Alive and stuffed. Haley loves to read stories about animals and makes lists of good names for pets in the future. Her latest animal obsession is Webkins.

10. Haley pretends to be a very serious little girl, but when she lets go she is hilarious and cracks me up!

Happy Birthday Lizzy!
We love you!

Haley's Birthday Party

Haley's party was tonight even though her Birthday is tomorrow. She was very specific about every detail.

The invitations were blue...
We all went swimming and had pizza delivered to the pool. We had water bottles with the water died blue.

The cake was blue.

The cupcakes were BLUE and white. Notice the frosting... I didn't even realize I was quilting until about the 3rd cupcake!

We set up a large screen (sheet) and projector in the garage and watched Cheaper by the dozen 2. During the movie we passed out light up bracelets and ate red licorice, cheese balls and popcorn.

The party favors were all blue.

Can you guess what Haley's favorite color is?

Haley & Melaina's awesome adventures

Haley was lucky enough to spend 2 1/2 days with Melaina. Ms. Dori had planned non stop fun, activities and crafts.  Check out this welcome basket they gave her when she arrived, full of her favorite things!

They made Beignets to remember the many trips they made to Cafe Du Monde when we lived in New Orleans.
There was lots of hose playing, trampoline jumping and sun worshiping.

Of course a good pillow fight!

Lots of attitude!

They did a bunch of great art projects, like paining large a canvas to decorate their rooms.

Haley made some presents to take to Lani, notice the matching tie dyed shirts and hat that Haley crochet for her.
They used Femo clay to mold these cute pens!
Haley keeps talking about how much fun she had and how much she misses Melaina.  She is now begging to move to Utah.

If you were a fly on our wall...

"Going to the hospital and seeing your Dad with blood on his hands...totally unexpected". Haley 7/1/07

"I have to admit, frosted flakes with orange juice as the milk...pretty satisfying." Haley 7/16/07

"Why do old ladies bum bums melt when they get older?" Ruby 7/16/07

Talking to Ruby in as snotty a voice as 4 year old is capable of " I know, do you think I don't have eyeballs." Lucy 6/30/07

Haley "What cool present do you guys want me to bring back for you from Maine? Do you want a big stuffed puffin?" Ruby replies "Look for a fashion dress that only has one strap and then goes around under my other arm. If you can't find that fashion dress, just get me some make up" 7/17/07

I asked Lucy to stop chanting "bum bum" to which she replied "bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum... It makes Heavenly Father happy". 7/20/07

8/12 "Who's going to dunk her?" Lucy, on the way to a baptism.

8/11 "Our poop is going to be ice cream and nuts" Lucy while eating a hot fudge sunday at Mc Donalds...with nuts.

Haley is home

Haley is finally home and had a great trip. I sent her with our old digital camera and she took 74 photos... 3 of the more interesting photos are posted below. As soon as I get the photos from my Mom's camera I will post about all the fun stuff they did.

A wicked fun day

For Christmas my Sister gave us (me, Eric and Haley) tickets to Wicked. As soon as I found out I bought the CD and we have loved the music. Haley however has become obsessed with it. She Listens to the music all the time on her Ipod, knows all the songs and knows the story (as much as I could explain from my limited knowledge). So to say that she was excited to see the play is an understatement.

I had never been to the Pantages theater- it was amazing.

Eric bought her a t-shirt and that made her year. She went to the bathroom to put it on as soon as she could...with her black velvet skirt.

As we were leaving she was collecting all the free programs off the floor. She carried a stash and had a stash in my purse.

As for Eric and I we LOVED the play, but we also loved watching our normally very serious Haley become giddy.

The BIG reward.

I never loose my keys. Really, I still have the same key chain that I got from Sundance 14 years ago. Last night I lost my keys. We only have one key to my car so this was obviously a problem. I searched the house all night and morning and in desperation told the kids that whoever found my keys would get a HUGE reward. About two hours later Haley found my keys. For her HUGE reward she choose going to the Library to get 20 books. When I was 8 years old I would have considered this a cruel and unusual punishment, but to her this was a HUGE reward. I seriously can't relate.

Hick Juice

This morning Haley said "Mom, thank you so much for buying hick juice, I love that stuff.". I told her I had no idea what she was talking about. You know Mom hick juice, it's in the fridge. She was adamant that I knew what she was taking about. Finally I checked the fridge and realized she was talking about Hi-C juice boxes. Hick juice...who knew.
