Cherries
Right now we have two trees full of beautiful pie cherries... but I am not a big fan of cherry pie. So if anyone wants to come pick cherries you can have all you want. Or if you have a good recipe for pie cherries, please share.
I must say it is hilarious watching the chickens jump up to eat the lower cherries. The chickens LOVE the cherries. So unless I get a good recipe or something soon... we are going to have pink chickens!

is oregon always this pretty? i'm loving your views.
i thought too many cherries give you the cha-chas? better watch those chickens! ha
Cherries! Love them but not in pie! Have you considered pitting them, rinsing them and then just freezing them? I put them semi-frozen in my breakfast with granola and yogurt. It's a super satisfying treat for me.
By the way, OXO makes a very good cherry pitter. It's worth buying with a coupon at Bed Bath and Beyond. And now, I'll get off my cherry soap box.
Natalie- Southern Oregon is always this beautiful. Northern Oregon has completely different weather.
Suzanne= These are so ripe that the seeds pull out as you pick them. We picked some by cutting the stems and then after they were washed pulled the pit and stem out at the same time. We did freeze a bag of them... but I don't know what to do with them.
Do grilled chicken stuffed with cherries, or do a grilled chicken wrap and put some chopped cherries in there..or even with shredded pork! Even better! Blend with some honey and ricotta! make parfaits for dessert! Make some maraschino cherries! make cherry ice cream, make some port cherry sauce for pork or venison, cherry cobbler, cherry torte, cherry coffee cake, cherry compote. Or just make Cherry Crisps. Same thing as apple crisps but with cherries.
Oh, and my FAVORITE Cherry Pie is:http://smittenkitchen.com/2010/07/sour-cherry-pie-with-almond-crumble/
Hope that helped. I am a big cherry fan. Oh, and try to do your cherries stuffed in the chicken breast, but put some orange rind in there. tastes DIVINE!
